Verify your identity to sign up for services

Last updated: April 2026

To purchase services and make payments on Promakers, you need to verify your identity. This process is quick, secure, and you only need to do it once. It is handled by Stripe, the platform's payment provider.

Mandatory requirement — You won't be able to start projects or make payments to creators until your identity verification is complete. Complete the process before submitting your first proposal.
Verification handled by Stripe — your data is protected

Why are we requesting this verification?

The European Payment Services Directive (PSD2) requires that the identity of all individuals conducting financial transactions on platforms such as Promakers be verified. This process protects all parties:

  • It ensures that payments are made by the right person and prevents fraudulent use of accounts.
  • Protects creators from chargebacks or unjustified disputes.
  • It assures that Promakers operates within the European legal framework for payments.
You only need to do this once — Once verification is complete, you won't have to repeat it for future projects. Your identity will remain permanently verified in your account.

What you need to complete the verification process

The verification process consists of two parts. Please have the following ready before you begin:

1
Identification card

A clear photo of your ID card, passport, or valid residence permit. Both sides if it is an ID card.

2
Selfie or live video

A photo of your face or a short video to confirm that it is you who is completing the verification.

Accepted forms of identification

🪪
ID card

A valid national ID card. Both sides are required.

📘
Passport

A valid passport from any country. Only the page with the photo.

🪪
Residence permit

NIE or another valid and current residence permit.

Before you begin — Make sure your document hasn't expired, that the photos are well-lit and clear, and that you take the selfie or video in a well-lit area. Verifications with blurry images or expired documents are automatically rejected.

Step-by-Step Guide to Completing Verification

Part 1 — Upload your ID

  1. When you try to start a project or make a payment, Promakers will automatically redirect you to the verification process. You can also access it by clicking on your avatar → Account Settings.
  2. Select the type of document you will be using: ID card, passport, or residence permit.
  3. Upload a photo of the front of your ID. Make sure all the information is legible and that there are no glare or shadows.
  4. If it's an ID card or residence permit, please also upload the back.
  5. Check that the image is correct and click "Confirm" to continue.

Part 2 — Verify your identity with a selfie or video

  1. Once the document has been uploaded, the system will ask you to verify your identity in real time.
  2. You can choose to take a photo (selfie) or record a short video by following the on-screen instructions.
  3. Stand in a well-lit area, facing the camera directly, without sunglasses or anything covering your face.
  4. If the system asks you to perform specific actions (such as turning your head or blinking), follow the instructions to complete the biometric verification.
  5. Confirm and submit. Stripe will process the verification automatically.
Tip — Perform the verification using a device with a good camera and in an environment with natural light. Avoid backgrounds with high contrast or backlighting, as these can make recognition difficult.

How long does verification take?

In most cases, verification is immediate or takes only a few minutes. Once approved, you'll receive a confirmation and can start purchasing services without any restrictions.

In rare cases, it may take Stripe up to 24 hours to review the documentation manually. If this happens, you will receive an email once the verification is complete.

If your verification is rejected — You can try again. The most common reasons are: an expired document, a blurry or illegible image, or poor lighting in your selfie or video. Be sure to fix the issue before trying again.

Data Security and Privacy

Promakers does not store or have direct access to your identification documents or biometric image. The entire process is handled exclusively by Stripe:

  • Your documents are processed using end-to-end encryption.
  • Biometric images (selfies or videos) are not stored permanently after verification.
  • Stripe complies with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • No Promakers creator or user has access to your personal information.
Your privacy is protected — The creatives you work with on Promakers will never see your ID or biometric image. They will only receive payments securely.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to verify my identity every time I start a project?

No. Verification is a one-time process. Once completed, your account will remain verified permanently, and you can start as many projects as you like without having to repeat the process.

Can I use a passport from a country other than Spain?

Yes. Stripe accepts passports from any country in the world. Make sure the document is valid and that the photo is clear.

Why are they asking me for a selfie or video in addition to my ID?

The selfie or video is used to confirm that the person undergoing verification is the same person shown in the document. This prevents the fraudulent use of third parties' identification documents.

My verification request was rejected. What should I do?

Check the reason shown on the screen or in the email you received. The most common issues are a blurry image, an expired document, or poor lighting. Fix the problem and try again from your account.

Are my biometric data stored?

Not permanently. Stripe uses biometric data solely to complete the verification process and does not store it indefinitely. You can refer to Stripe’s privacy policy for more details.

I don't have a Spanish ID card. Can I use another form of identification?

Yes. You can use your valid passport or residence permit. If you have any questions about which document to use, please contact our support team before starting the process.
